Choosing A Foundation

Foundation is intended for application to the face and neck. It helps even out skin tone and hide imprefections like scars and pigmentation problems. There are so many types of foundation but it's essential to know which kind will work best for your skin type!

:: Emulsions ::

Emulsions are packed in squeeze tubes and can be used on a variety of skin types. These foundations give less sheen than cream or liquid foundation and covers blemishes well.

:: Creams ::

Cream foundations is great for dry skin as it contains a high proportion of oils and are creamy. Cream foundations provide heavy coverage, a glossy finish, but have moisturizing properties. This is a good choice for post-surgical skin and blemish cover. Smooth application with a nice, soft, powdery finish.

:: Liquids ::

Liquid foundations are easy to use and are packaged in bottles. These are available in oil based and water based formulas and are formulated for all skin types. They cover the skin smoothly with a light sheen and can be best suited to cover blemishes and scars.

:: Cakes or sticks [Pan makeup] ::

Cakes and sticks have greater drying effect and are best suited for oily skin. They provide a dense matte cover and will camouflage scars and blemishes easily.

Cakes or stick foundations are popular for photographic and stage work but are a bit heavy for everyday use.

:: Powders ::

Pressed powder foundations control shine and provide oil-blotting. Compact powders are heavily formulated as they contain a certain amount of foundation. Powders are used during the day for touching up and help to reinforce coverage.

:: Waterproof foundation ::

Sometimes foundation does not last long especially in summer weather or under stage lights. Waterproof/resistant makeup can make your skin look great despite the sweat.

:: Spray foundation ::

Spray foundation is preferred for acne scarring and post surgical skin. It is used to retain the make up for long hours. Spray them at any time over your make up to refresh. These come in different shades for different skin tones.
